Notes for Installation

If you are upgrading to a newer version of EndNote, please refer to the tips below:

1. Before installation: It is advisable to backup any styles, import filters, connection files and libraries somewhere other than the EndNote program directory on your computer. This is a just-in arrangement, although your libraries should not be deleted with the installation.
2. Remove the older version: From the start button select: Settings > Control Panel > Add & Remove programs. Locate EndNote in your list of programs and follow prompts to remove it.
3. Other procedures for removal:
   1. Delete the EndNote folder from program files.
   2. Also, go to the MS Word startup folder and delete EndNote files which look like: EN9Cwyw.dot and EN9Cwyw.WordXP.wll. (path for going to the startup folder is C:\documents and settings\username eg. marywong\application data\Microsoft\word\Startup)
   3. Open MS Word, and then select Tools from the top bar menu. The EndNote toolbar should no longer exists.
4. Installation requires administrator right.
