Final Reflection (AndyLaw)

I have the same feeling of Doris. I never think that blog can be used as educational purpose other than personal sharing only. This is a great tool for sharing ideas for group learning, as well as access it anywhere and anytime.

For this module, methods of research and enquiry, I have explored some kinds of research. For example, quantitative researches, qualitative researches, correlational researches, experimental researches, case studies and reporting researches. There are different kind of research to suit different purpose and the properties of the research. At the same times, I have leant some statistical methods to calculate data set for analyze and discuss the result. I understand that statistical mathematics is a specific subject that cannot be leant a lot within this module, but the knowledge we have leant can process simple and small research at this moment. I may need to extend my studies on this aspect if larger size of research will be performed.

Research needs a very long-term of studies by former researchers, as well as the basic knowledge of the subject. Well-planning is a must before conducting any kind or size of research. That is why another assignment of this module is going to write a research plan. I sincere that Dr. Churchill can provide valuable suggestion on the research plan because I am the beginner in this aspect so that can perform the research successfully.

Module Reflection - Methods of Research and Enquiry (Doris Lin)

My learning experience in this module has let me experience a FOSS platform called “Blogger” and explore how to utilize that platform to design my blog and reflections what I have learnt. The most hand-on experiences also let me create multi-media mode materials such as Slide share, embed video from You Tube and Flash slideshow maker etc. That is a new media to communicate with peers and instructors. Besides, Daniel introduces most of educational research methods with particular critical reading and understands how to justify of research questions and formulation of an appropriate research design, including methods of data-gathering and data analysis, with specific reference to the major research problems.

Throughout experiential process of group blog, I understand variety of research approaches in education such as correlational research and experimental research and evaluate some of computer tools that can be used to facilitate research so that I become a critical readers of education research and able to take advantage of researching findings. I am hoping that I can broaden my research skill to develop my research proposal and this module boosts up me confidence to undertake dissertation in coming year.

Thanks Dr. Churchill helping me to develop my elementary research skill.
